Maria Blombärg is a Swedish artist whose work is deeply rooted in her connection to nature, particularly the rugged coastline of her homeland. From an early age, Maria knew she wanted to pursue a career in the arts, though her path was not immediately clear. Initially drawn to advertising, she soon realized it wasn’t her true calling. This led her to study design and art history at the University of Seattle in the USA, where she deepened her passion for the arts and explored various crafts. However, it was only after years of searching and studying that she found her true direction as a textile artist.

Maria’s work is unique in that she does not use traditional paints or colors. Instead, she cuts pieces of fabric and used textiles, repurposing these small fragments by either sewing them onto canvas or needling them into place. This innovative technique allows her to create rich, textured images that are infused with meditative calm, transcending mere visual experiences and inviting viewers into a world of stillness and beauty.

Her artistic journey has taken her around the globe, from the pulsating energy of American cities to the landscapes of China, enriching her work with diverse cultural insights. Maria’s art is not just a visual treat but a bridge between different worlds, urging the audience to pause and connect with the powerful, quiet forces that shape our existence.
